Volunteers in Mission to Biloxi
Since Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast on August 29, 2005, MUMC has sent 10 members on five trips to help rebuild homes that were destroyed by the storm.
There are many empty lots where there were homes, but there is the assumption that those folks are not returning. There are a few people still needing help rebuilding their homes, but NYAC is has completed its 5 year commitment to help rebuild Biloxi.
Simsbury UMC and the volunteers who have accompanied them (lincluding MUMC and other churches) have sponsored 7 trips, on which MUMC has always had a representation. The work there has been inspiring. It is time to move to areas where there is more need.
